Two major transport projects. Both ends of the Gold Coast. Both targeted for delivery before 2032.
Today the Queensland Government announced the Harbour Town light rail extension in the north and the GC Surfer in the south. The light rail extension will connect Biggera Waters to the Gold Coast University Hospital. The GC Surfer will run metro-style services every ten minutes from Robina to Coolangatta via Burleigh Heads and Gold Coast Airport.
Together they move the Gold Coast closer to a connected network.
The 2032 Games have given Queensland the catalyst to commit to transport investment on this scale. I've worked on major transport and events infrastructure on the Gold Coast long enough to know commitments like this don't come around often.
Planning and procurement start now. The focus turns to delivery and to building a network that serves the Gold Coast well beyond 2032.
