Today is International Women in Engineering Day. This year's theme, Engineering Intelligence, is about the creativity and judgement it takes to work through genuinely hard problems. I see that intelligence up close, in the women engineers across the table on roads, rail and major events work, turning drawings into something a community can trust. My job is engagement, not engineering. But I have learned more about how infrastructure actually gets built from those women than from any briefing pack.
